Join Our Club
Who Can Join?
We invite
any adult (age 18 and up only) interested in public speaking and
leadership to join. Members must be able to dedicate enough time to
participate and make a difference in the organization.
Benefits of Joining
There are
many benefits to becoming a member of our organization. Our members are
friends and colleagues. We have a great time when we get
together. We also have a common interest, and work together
to teach and learn from our collective group. Fear, uncertainty,
lack of speaking skills, untapped leadership qualities ... these are
all good reasons to join us and help yourself.
The Toastmasters experience is a structured and
disciplined approach to learning, with detailed guidebooks to teach you
everything you need to know. There are multiple facets of
communication, as well as leadership that are taught throughout the
program.
Play a Variety of Roles
Each
meeting is led by the Toastmaster, who plays an emcee role.
Featured speakers give a prepared speech averaging 5 to 7 minutes in
length. Other meeting roles include Speech Evaluator, General
Evaluator, Wordmaster, Grammarian, Timer, and Table Topics
Master. Members will give a prepared speech approximately
every 6 weeks, depending on the individual. When not giving a
speech, members play one of the other roles and gain experience with
impromptu speaking. Its all a lot of fun as you learn and grow in
these different roles.
How Can You Join?
Usually a
person visits a club meeting as a guest, sometimes once, sometimes
several times, before deciding to join. As a guest, you are
welcomed to visit any regular weekly meeting.
Our club dues
are approximately $39.00 semi-annually plus a one time initiation fee
of $20.00. When you come to our meeting we will provide you with an
application. We accept personal and business checks only (no
credit cards), so remember to bring one to our meeting if you want to
join right away.
